In December 2003, I sold the 1983 320i that I've been racing in BMW Club and Vintage Racing. See Often Last Racing. Since then, I've purchased a 1972 Tii (VIN 2760306) and will be turning it into a race car (#204 above). Yellow hood was used to attend track session on 9/11/04.Orange hood to replace it. Scroll down to the bottom of the page to see what I've started with. Pictures and progress to follow:

  • Building Roll Cage (1/2/04),
  • Cutting out floor for raised header 1/17/04 & 2/6 and 4/10
  • Building support for fuel cell and flaring wheels 1/17/04 and 5/8/04
  • Flare complete, rocker repair, and primer 5/16/04
  • A Lesson In Blocking 5/20/04
  • Steering and window net 2/28/04
  • Rebuilding all four wheels, subframes, steering and brakes.
  • Painting and bodywork building the dash(4/4/04), sealing up the firewall(4/4/04), cleaning up front inside fenders(4/5/04),
  • Picking up the car 5/28/04
  • Dashboard, wiring, and plumbing (6/8/04 & 6/13/04)
  • Installing drive train (6/26/04)
  • misc....How I solved the blow by problem
  • Installing and positioning the lm1 (10/30/05)
  • I was fortunate to be able to sell the 320i as a roller. From that car, I retained my engine(12:1 compression, 316 cam, dual 45 Webers), 5 speed tranny, and diff. I was also able to retain the fire bottle, fuel call, accusump, fuel cell and Ron Davis radiator.

Many thanks go to Lance Dunbar and Perry Genova of Skidmark Racing for all the help in putting this car together. It will follow the Skidmark number scheme. The aim of Skidmark Racing to to make very competitive cars but to also emphasis the artwork that can be applied to vintage cars. Here's the rest of the Skidmark cars:

    201 - Lance Dunbar

Leading Perry's yellow car at Watkins Glen.

    202 - Perry Genova

Chasing several Super Sevens at the front of an SVRA Race at VIR. My old 320i is the 4th car from the end.

    203 - Ken Worsham

Ken is leading Al Taylor's infamous "Cowveria".

    204 - Bob Breed
